Pond 3 Looking Down

Pond Looking Down #3  16 x 16 encaustic painting on cradled panel

This coming Saturday I leave for almost a month. I will be having an east coast adventure.  I fly to Tampa and then start heading up the coast with a friend, ending up in Myersville MD to paint  the Catoctin Mountains. plein air. I’ve been using only  palette knives for almost a year while creating my encaustic body of work.  I will be a bit rusty switching back to brush work and having total control , but I will definitely embrace the time being outdoors, in a beautiful part of our country.

Artist Month in Chicago

Encaustic by Jenny Learner “Fuschia Fun”

October is Artist Month in Chicago; the Bridgeport area is becoming a wonderful art center. The Zhou B center took over a old Spegiels warehouse and has fabulous galleries on the first and second floor, with artists studios on the upper 4 floors.

New to the Area is the Bridgeport Art Center; a combination of Businesses, Events Centers , studio space, a very impressive community Gallery. and smaller private galleries through out the building.

This area is hopping on 3rd Fridays; a smart move  in order not compete with 1st Fridays in the rest of Chicago. Studios are open,  and galleries have new exhibits.

I went there specifically to see encaustic artist Jenny Learner. and Kathy Weaver’s new series on paper.
