Back in the Studio

February 7, 2017

After spending 4 months painting only walls in my home in preparation for selling it, I am now back in the studio and having fun!

This piece was created in 4 separate layers. The inspiration was looking down at a pond in the early morning mist.

Winding Down

triptych

Since June, I have been very busy preparing my house to sell. I first needed to get my adult children to find their own places. Then painting walls and going through 30 years of accumulation, and realizing the stuff I had acquired, I will probably never use. I did allow myself 1 box of “cool”  things that could be applied to an instillation piece…if I ever do one!

Last week I finished a commissioned piece in encaustics. I am really pleased with the results, and so is the client.

Iron Gate Farm 2

February 26, 2016

tree farm96I started this piece last summer at Iron Gate Farm in Bristol Wisconsin.  It is painting on Arches 1/2 sheet of 180lb paper for oils.  The paper is very rough to paint on. I like pushing the color around which was very difficult in the field when using Galkyd Lite, which has been my medium for the past 12 years. It’s wonderful  because of it’s quick drying property and when working in the studio it poses no problem. I am searching for a new medium to use on location.

Where I am now!

Autumn Dressed Tre96I just realized it has been months since I posted a blog. I have been traveling a lot this year, and have wonderful paintings and memories from my adventures. You will be seeing my endeavors as soon as I get them photographed.

Autumn is my favorite season; I don’t need to reinterpret colors. The piece above was painted at Iron Gate Farm in Wisconsin.

I love this farm it is only a 40 minute drive for me. It belongs to the Chalet Nursery in Wilmette and it is about 180 acers of beauty.  Thank you Larry Thalmann for allowing me access to your property!
