Old Courthouse Gallery

May 27, 2016

Today I will delivering art to the Old Courthouse Gallery in Woodstock, IL , I have fond memories of this gallery, it is where I took my first workshop with Rodger Bechtold, and the first gallery to  exhibited my art.  My then 8 year old daughter and I also exhibited in several Woman’s Work shows.

I will be showing my encaustic series that tell a story. Encaustic Painting is a process of mixing wax with pigment and then fusing them together with a heat source.

Ramblings and Full Steam Ahead

March 19, 2014

The Library Board at Warren Newport Library is looking for a large painting for one of their walls..It’s been narrowed down to 6 contenders and I’m one of them. The space is 7 feet tall and 22 feet wide. We met last week and were given the information that we were chosen for our ability and style, but we all did layouts for children…they want something that will encompass children and adults.

It’s back to the drawing board.. I have my idea, and I’m very excited about it… now I need to lay it out!

Moving Forward

March 11, 2014

The Opening of the Nature in Encaustics show at The Art Center in Highland Park was packed! I was really honored to be a part of it.  Jenny Lerner of Fused Chicago, curated it. It will be up for a month, it’s worth the trip to see it.

This year started out with a bang and  the momentum is still picking up. Next month I will be showing 10 of my encaustics pieces at the Deer Path Gallery in Lake Forest. The subject is when air meets water

Encaustic Landscapes

February 17, 2014

My encaustic adventure continues.

I’m still  in the process of discovering  new ways to produce surfaces that reflect the moment and time of my existence. Right now I’ve narrowed it down to two techniques. The image above is created by heating the whole surface and allowing the medium the freedom to move and migrate.

the Image below is me in control , resulting a visual and tactile texture, and more sculpted images.
