A Teacher

colored pencil on paper, by Kathleen Weinstein

I have been teaching private art lessons for almost 8 years. My first student started with me when she was 9. I was working at the College of Lake County in the gallery gift shop when a lovely lady walked in and asked if I knew anyone who would be interested in teaching art to  her 9 year old daughter who had a love for creating.

Kathleen Weinstein has been working with me since that day. I teach a wide variety of subject mater and media to my students.  The subject that did not thrill Kathleen was the human form, especially faces.

Kathleen is now a junior in high school and taking AP Art. Her  choose concentration is faces. The piece above was exhibited at Zhou B Gallery in Chicago, who sponsored the Chicago area Schools annual show. Kathleen won a scholarship to the oldest art school in the US, the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art.  She will be attending the Academy this summer.

I am so proud of her and am eagerly looking forward to her future accomplishments.
